Introduction

This watchdog service uses the internal HW watchdog to force a complete system reboot in case of persistent error conditions.

All systems are designed for an 24/7 operation, this is an additional measure to guarantee operation continuity at any time.

How it works

The behaviour is very straighforward:

1. The Watchdog Service when enabled, starts the HW watchdog with a timer of 60 seconds.

2. Every 5 seconds the timer is reset, unless one or more of the configured alarms (error conditions) is found. In such cases the timer is not reset.

3. In case the alarms persist for more than 60 seconds, the system reboots.

Configuration

Configuration options are easy;

• Enable/disable the service

• Alarms (error conditions) that are taken into consideration to stop clearing the watchdog timer.
