AdvanFitting-100

Introduction

AdvanFitting is an RFID-based system specially designed for fitting rooms at retail stores.

AdvanFitting detects the garments with RFID tags taken by customers into each fitting room. This information can be used to interact with the customer through a touch screen, for instance, by allowing the customer to ask for another size or color without leaving the fitting room, or by recommending complementary products for cross-selling purposes.

The narrow beamwidth of AdvanFitting antennas minimizes reading items at neighboring fitting rooms.

AdvanFitting comprises a Primary unit and several Primary units:

    • The Primary unit has an integrated reader, a controller and one directive antenna.

    • Each Primary unit comprises one directive antenna. Up to 3 Primary units can be connected to one Primary unit.

Business benefits of AdvanFitting :

    • Sales increase

    • One Primary can be connected to 1, 2 or 3 Primary, which reduces costs

    • Narrow beam and high gain antennas

    • Easy connection and installation

    • Can be installed hanging from the ceiling or above the ceiling

    • Easy adjustment of the distance from the ceiling

    • The color of the bottom surface can be customized

AdvanFitting is composed by an overhead reader and an AdvanScreen-21t-100.

These are the minimum steps to start using AdvanFitting:

1. Mount the AdvanFitting-100

Mount the AdvanFitting by following the guidelines that can be found in the Download section:

  • How to mount AdvanFitting reader: AdvanFitting-100 User Guide v1.6 - 160307.pdf

  • How to mount AdvanScreen-21t-100: AdvanScreen-21t-100 Installation Guide v02 150109.pdf

2. Connect the AdvanFitting to the network

An Ethernet and Power connection can be found at the AdvanFitting Reader and at the AdvanScreen.

The requirements are as follows:

  1. The AdvanScreen and the AdvanFitting Reader have to be in the same network as they communicate with each other.

  2. The AdvanFitting reader Primary its powered by PoE (Power over Ethernet), the PoE injector provided by Keonn can be used to power the device.

  3. The AdvanScreen needs a power connection and an Internet connection that allows it to connect to AdvanCloud. To be able to work, AdvanFitting needs Internet as all the data displayed is downloaded from AdvanCloud in real-time.

3. Configure the AdvanFitting

3.1. Change the AdvanFitting reader IP address

The AdvanFitting reader and the AdvanScreen have to communicate via the network as AdvanNet, the software that controls the reader, is running on the AdvanScreen. Two steps have to be done to connect them:

    1. Change the AdvanFitting reader IP address to an static one, the guide can be found at the Download section.

    2. Configure AdvanNet to connect the AdvanScreen to the AdvanFitting reader (guide).

3.2. Configure AdvanNet and AdvanCloud

RFID configuration has to be configured for best performance:

  • Connect the AdvanFitting reader to a DHCP enabled network.

  • To be able to discover the AdvanFitting IP address, use a PC in the same network as the computer. Please see the discover devices section: Discover-devices-section.

  • The previous step will result in the IP that is assigned to the device. Let's named it <AdvanFitting-IP-address>.

    • Use a computer in the same network as the AdvanFitting.

    • Open a Web Browser (Chrome or Firefox are required).

    • Go to the page: http://<AdvanFitting-IP-address>:3161

    • Replace the <AdvanFitting-IP-address> for the IP found in the discover devices.

    • Use the following credentials to enter:

      • User: keonn

      • Pass: cloud2015

    • Go to the RF & Antenna Options and configure the power and sensitivity for best performance. Look at our wiki for more information about power and sensitivity:

    • What-is-the-difference-between-Power-and-Sensitivity

      • Change power and sensitivity (Apply the configuration by clicking on the Apply config button):

Once the power and sensitivity are set for best performance, persist the configuration:

Follow the next steps to configure AdvanCloud:

  • Go to the System tab and select the AdvanCloudBusService on the drop-down list of the AdvanNet services and configure it as follows:

  • Ask to Keonn for the right values to configure the AdvanCloudBusService:

      • Ask keonn support (support@keonn.com) the following parameter values:

        • Host

        • Token

        • Template

        • Device id

        • Start options

        • From ID

        • To ID

      • When all the values are set correctly, set the parameter Enabled to true.

      • Apply the configuration by clicking in the "Apply service config" button.

    • Save the system configuration:

    • Clear the cache and reboot the system:

4. Upload content and template

AdvanFitting comes with default content and a default template as the following example shows:

AdvanFitting content must be upload by the client, with pictures, sizes, colors, descriptions,... and, if required, recommendations.

AdvanFitting templates are build in HTML5 language (HTML, CSS, and Javascript) and the client can develop its own template or it can be build by Keonn. Contact our support team for more information (support@keonn.com).

5. Test AdvanFitting-100

Test that AdvanFitting recognizes the Keonn RFID test tags, when approaching a tag, AdvanFitting should display the item information, as it can be seen in the following video:

Discover Device

Configuration requires Ethernet access to the unit, as it uses a web application.

We need therefore to connect the AdvanFitting unit to an Ethernet network and execute an IP discovery process. After the configuration process is finished, the Ethernet cable can be removed.

To be able to discover the AdvanFitting IP address, use a PC in the same network as the computer.

Please see the discover devices for the 150/60 Series devices: series150/60-Discover-devices.

Update Reader IP

To execute the update reader IP script from AdvanNet do the following step:

  1. Log into AdvaNet Manager, go to the "System" tab, write the following under "AdvanNet Scripts" (example for the "updateReaderIP.sh") and execute the script:

    1. look.UpdateReaderIP

    2. /home/keonn/advannet 192.168.1.29

Change the device IP

To change the IP of the computer inside the AdvanFitting-100 do the following:

    • Open the Primary unit and connect a Keyboard and a Mouse.

    • Do Alt+F4 to close the Chromium Browser.

    • Open the Network Configuration:

    • Edit the Wired Connection 1:
